About

Hossein Tavazoni-zadeh (1991, Tehran) is an award-winning theatre maker and a PhD candidate at the University of Groningen. Having a two-way relationship with his research in Cultural Memory Studies, Hossein's creative productions revolve around the memory of place and the social issues tied to the image of the past. Besides teaching and hosting workshops in France, the Netherlands, and Iran, he has also cooperated with other companies and groups as a writer, dramaturge, and stage designer.

Hossein Tavazonizadeh’s doctoral research investigates the role of media and fiction in shaping the memory of, and investing emotions in, architectural styles. He holds a Master’s degree in Film Studies from Soore University, Iran. In his thesis, he explored Iranian site-specific theatre, concerning the use, and effects, of filmic ways of expression in representing architecture. Currently, he is conducting an artistic research project, derived from his PhD, on the sense of otherness and the memory of place.
